Charles Woodson’s Retirement

Charles+Woodsons+Retirement

After the 2015-16 NFL season it appears that one of the all time best defensive back is retiring. We knew early in the year that the 39 year old cornerback, Charles Woodson was going to retire after 18 years of being in the NFL. Woodson over his 18 year career played for two different teams, the Green Bay Packers and the Oakland Raiders. He accumulated a total of 65 interceptions in a total of 254 games and 11 of those interceptions going for a touchdown. Woodson was not getting old mentally or bored of being in the league but mainly just old for the league. Woodson has by far one of the top corners in the league for the past ten years, then played the game with a chip on his shoulder and was very respectful about how he played. Although everyone does talk some trash once in awhile, Woodson was one who could back himself up by showing it all on out on the field.

When I consider the legacy that Woodson leaves behind, the following come to mind:

  • He was a man that just had a nose for the ball.

-you could tell just be watching his footwork and the amount of tackles and stops he would have a game.

-as a corner you usually don’t get that manny opportunities at tackling, but every chance Woodson got he made sure it was a stop.

  • He never took any team lightly no matter the situation.

-Woodson didn’t care if it was a playoff game, championship, or just a game that meant nothing, he was still going to go 100 miles per hour for all four quarters.

– In fact most of Woodson’s interceptions came in the fourth quarter when everyone else game up except for him.

  • My most favorite is that he was a very respectful man.

– This year especially, he appreciated all the fans and commission of the NFL on his farewell.

-Woodson was a Beast on the field and hated any man on the other side of the ball, once regulation was over he would out it all behind him.
