Lebron James: A profile of greatness with an uncertain future

When it comes down to talking about basketball athletes, you will here one name in every conversation: Lebron James. He is the best NBA player to play the game today and is on his way to shattering many records.

What makes him so unique to everyone else is his body size and the way he uses it. A guy his size should be a center but with his shooting skill, dribbling skills and ball handling his the best in the game. James is determined to win because every team he has played on they won because of his desire to take the game over and win. It is a team dreams to have James starting in their lineup because not only will he win them games but make the players around him better.

He is called “King James” and was born on December 30, 1984. He stands at 6 ft 8 in and weighs 250 pounds. Not only does he have the built to be a NBA star but has the talent to back him up and uses his size to the advantage. Lebron has won two NBA championships, four NBA most valuable player awards, two olympic gold medals, two NBA MVP Finals Awards, NBA scoring title, and NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

That’s not it; there is more. He also earned himself on to nine NBA All- Star teams, nine All-NBA teams, five All NBA-Defensive teams, and is the Cleveland Cavaliers all time leading score.

James is talked about a lot because he is such big figure in today’s world. He is most athletes’ icon because of the passion he shows to the game and to his teammates. He also is well-known for his charities and of the court actions. He supports the After-School All- Stars, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Children’s Defense Fund, and ONEXONE.

James has always been under a lot of media but is getting a lot more attention now because of his future. He is going into free agency at the end of the 2014 season, and many teams are going to want him. The talk is who is going to be able to afford him because he’s a game-changer and is going to be worth every penny. There’s been three teams in specific that Lebron has shown interest in going to and can afford him.

Basketball fans at Hammonton High School shared their thoughts on James and where they predict he will end up and why.

“I think he will end up Philadelphia because they have a very young team and already have success without him and with him they will be unbeatable,” said senior Nick Ezzi. “They will also have Nerlens Noel back to help the team and can afford Lebron James.”

My take on this prediction? The Philadelphia 76ers have always been a hardcore team and haven’t had a superstar since Allen Iverson and can use another one to get the team back into its winning days. They will have the most money to spend in the NBA and with such a young team in a passionate city, James could end up here.

“He will end up back home because it his home and has a charity there. They have a few superstars already on that team and Lebron will just be another to the list,” predicts special education teacher and former Hammonton High School basketball standout Ms. Cindy Pierce. “He will be playing in front of his home crowd and the fans will want him back,” says Ms. Cynthia Pierce.

My take on this prediction? The “home” she refers to is the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s a had a lot of success here, but ever since he left the fans have turned against him and might not want him back and if he goes he’s no choice but to win.

Physical education teacher Greg Silvesti sees James in Miami.

“If he wins another title in Miami he will. Why would he leave after just winning the NBA title?,” he asked. “He has players backing him up and so much going on the fan base of Miami and be hard to leave. If they don’t win then he can end up on either of those teams and can add the LA Lakers because they have money and Kobe Bryant so either way he’s going to winning team.”

What may be the advantage of staying in Miami, in my opinion? He just won a title here, but the team itself is going to last long. If he stays he will have a lot of old players along with new young players to teach.

Lebron has tough decisions ahead of him and will be an interesting day to see where he ends up at. My bet is that he will have a winning team wherever he goes.
