A True National Champion in College Football?

Students and staff react to new BCS playoff system

A True National Champion in College Football?

College football is about to be changed forever.

Instead of just bowl games and the top two ranked teams battling it out at the end of the season there will now be a playoff bracket set in place. This bracket will contain the top four teams in NCAA Division 1a football. There will be two semi final games and one national championship and in the end this will show which college team is the real college football champion. As for the other teams that are not in the running for the national championship, there will still be all the bowl games to play and win.

Now this change is getting people even more excited for the upcoming football season.

Senior Joe Pinto is looking forward to the change because it’ll be more fair.

“This is a very good thing so now everyone can see who the real national champion is and no one will jipped out of one,” he said.

For history teacher Mr. John Taima, the new system will be good because it provide more exciting playoff games leading up to the championship.

“I like the idea of the playoff games. Actually, I think they should have more playoff games,” he said. “Every other division does playoffs but, Division 1.”

Junior Connor O’Toole firmly believes that this will bring in more people to watch the NCAA with a National Championship.

“I think this is a great decision by the NCAA and this will allow people to have a better understanding of college football while bringing in new viewers,” he said.

The 2015 football season will be the true test of whether or not the new system will be well-received.
