Black Out: Using fashion to make a statement

Many things can stand for multiple messages. A rose commonly is a symbol for love or romance. People of faith may wear a cross. Supporters of breast cancer awareness wear pink.

Some might be so small, it’s almost unrecognizable. There’s not just one message either. Each individual can interpret it as they chose. It’s all about sending a message and trying to make a statement.

Listen to how these high powered women of America decided to show their opinions about the recent sexual assault cases. The Golden Globes similar to many other award shows is always praised for the red carpet looks of highly known actors, actresses and other famous figures.

According to  People Style article written by Alex Apatoff, “With more than 300 figures in the entertainment industry signed on the initiative aims to fight sexual harassment, assault and inequality for women in all kinds of workplaces.” The reasoning for all of this commotion about the looks of wearing all black is based off of consensus.

These women don’t see it as a fashion statement. It is a way for others both men and women to notice that they are more to these women then the most expected glammed up beauties of the red carpet.

Standing up from the outbreak of recent and old sexual harassment cases, these women were here to make a statement.
