Abel Tesfaye, also known as The Weeknd released a new album on March 30, 2018. The album is called My Dear Melancholy and has many different reviews. Me personally I love the album and the music in it, but I have also been a fan of the weeknd for a long time now. The album features six songs, Call Out My Name, Try Me, Wasted Times, I Was Never There, Hurt You, and Privilege, even though there are only six songs they are all about four minutes.

My personal favorite song in the album is Privilege, the song shows heartbreak and hurt. The song details the end of a relationship, as many people tend to believe it was written after his breakup with Selena Gomez. Many people believe that the album is all about Selena, and it takes us through the heartbreak. The songs throughout the album are slightly different than The Weeknd’s normal upbeat, but many people change when they go through a huge heartbreak.

The song Wasted Times is the highlight of the album and is slightly more uplifting than some of the other songs featured. The song brings you through his thoughts of Gomez, saying that the woman before her “wasn’t even half of her”. The song steers into a sexual direction for some time but its not the whole song.

Every song in the album explores heartbreak and pain, since the alum is based on his most recent breakup. Some of the songs like, Hurt You show and example of madness and hate but also love. Other songs such as Try Me, I Was Never There and Call Out My Name go through the pain of the heartbreak the most.

Overall, I love the album along with many others. Even though the album isn’t as uplifting as many of his other pieces, the album is very good and like him. I would rate the album a 8/10. If your a big fan of meaningful music or The Weekend you are sure going to love his new album. Brett Thackston says the album is “trash” but many others and I love the album.
