The Met Gala is the largest fashion event of the year, and 2014 was no exception. The annual ball kicks off the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute exhibit. This years theme was America’s First Couturier. As well as being the most important fashion event of the year, it is also a fundraiser to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum.
Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, has been chair of the event since 1995. Wintour overlooks the guest list and the benefit committee, picking who is invited to the most exclusive social event of the year. Tickets cost $25,000(that’s per person!). The event has raised as much as $12 million dollars.
