Wrestlemania 30: A Review

Wrestlemania+30%3A+A+Review

Sunday April 6th, 2014.

The Superdome in New Orleans.

The day that will go down in World Wrestling Entertainment as the night challenger Brock Lesnar alongside Paul Heyman single handedly defeated The Undertaker and his Wrestlemania streak of 21-0. April 6th, 2014 will stand out in the minds of wrestling fans old and young. This will be the day where fans ten, twenty, thirty years from now will know exactly where they were when Brock Lesnar ate, slept, and conquered the streak.

It was the third from last match  at Wrestlemania 30. The crowd was already pumped from matches like the HHH v.s Daniel Bryan, The shield v.s The New Age Outlaws and Kane,  and The Andre the Giant Invitational Over the Top Rope Battle Royal, etc. Then Brock Lesnar’s music hit. The crowd had its boo’s, but there was an occasional cheer for Lesnar. Brock managed by Paul Heyman, was making their famous walk down the ramp to the ring. Then the wait was on for Lesnar.

Then all the sudden, the lights dropped and the bells tolled. For everybody, Goosebumps stood up on their necks. The fog slowly ran down the ramp. Then the sight of 21 coffins were seen along the stage with every Wrestlemania opponent that The Undertaker defeated on them, including his newest opponent, Lesnar. Then the coffin for Lesnar opened up as The Undertaker stood at attention looking at the coffin. All the sudden, fire erupted inside Lesnar’s coffin, hinting at what is to come for Brock Lesnar.

The walk down the ramp to the ring for The Undertaker is described as eerie, creepy, and just an owing sight to witness. With the crowd roaring for The Undertaker, you could barely hear yourself talk over the crowd. I personally got to experience this in 2008, when I got to experience my first Wrestlemania. I attended Wrestlemania 24 a couple years ago, and all I can say is wow. It was amazing. It was something that I will never forget. I got to witness The Undertaker v.s Edge in the main event.

When The Undertaker finally reached the ring, and the lights came back on, the crowd was ready for a fight. Then The Undertaker put his hands on his hat, pulling it off in the famous way he does. The eyes were as white as can be. The stare could intimidate any competitor past, present, and future. The way both wrestlers stared each other down from across the ring was priceless. These two were about to make another Wrestlemania moment.

Then the bell rang. The fight was on. At first, The Undertaker took the fight to Lesnar like never before. Taker was giving Lesnar so nasty right hooks. But when Lesnar countered Taker, it was all downhill from there.

This match had it all. The Undertaker  and Brock Lesnar showed no mercy, and hit all of their signature moves and finishers on each other.  Taker hit Lesnar with a nasty Last Ride from the top turnbuckle. This is when I thought Taker had it. But Lesnar kicked out with a two count. Yes, a two count!!

From here, The Undertaker hit Lesnar with a Chokeslam, two attempts of Hell’s Gate, and even a TombStone Piledriver. Even with all of these vicious moves done to Lesnar, he still overcame them all, and kicked out.

In the match, Brock Lesnar hit Taker with the Kamora Lock. This is when I thought that he was going to break Taker’s arm. But when Taker broke free from Lesnar, Brock became even more hostile. With three separate occasions of Lesnar hitting the F-5, Taker was indeed taking the beating of a lifetime.

On the third and final F-5 that Lesnar hit, Taker was out. Then Lesnar covered Taker, and the count was on. One, Two, Three. History has been made. The Undertaker has been beat for the first time in twenty-one years by the one and only Brock Lesnar. The Streak is over! The Streak is over! The Streak is over!

As the ref’s hand came down for the three count, the crowd was shocked. The crowd was stunned. Nobody could believe what they just witnessed. Even the bell didn’t ring right away, and  Lesnar’s music was delayed. The big question; was Brock Lesnar supposed to beat The Undertaker? Why was the bell and Lesnar’s music delayed? These are questions that I feel should be answered.

The walk for Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman back up the Wrestlemania ramp and into the locker room felt like a million dollars for them, because they just did the impossible. When The Undertaker finally got back up to his feet, he received a standing ovation from everybody in the Superdome, and everybody watching at home on PPV.

You could see that The Undertaker was overall tired. You could also see that Taker was feeling a sign of relief as well. I believe that even though Taker lost at Wrestlemania for the first time, he is happy inside that he doesn’t have to put that much pressure on himself anymore. He can finally move on.

Overall, I was astonished and amazed when I saw this match take place. I have never seen two men like these two go at it like the way they did. I would give the match between The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar a solid 10/10, because of the things they put their bodies through.

Even though the match is over with, there are still some really important question that the WWE Universe and I would like to have answered. First off, Is this The Undertaker’s last match at Wrestlemania, or even in general? Next, Will The Undertaker want a rematch against Brock Lesnar at any point? Lastly, If it was The Undertaker’s last match ever, when will he be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame?
