Everyone knows how brave the people are who go up into space. Gravity demonstrates a suspense-packed science fiction thriller adventure with a disastrous journey to space in a way one cannot imagine. The movie, a great example of today’s movie magic, will have you running to theaters. If you like suspense and want to sit on the edge of your seat, this is a can’t-miss, must-see.

Set outside the Explorer, this spacewalk seems to be going just fine and as planned. Matt Kowalski (George Clooney) is enjoying himself, just circling around the shuttle while Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is working. Kowalski is joking and says “Houston, I have a bad feeling about this mission” and then tells a story, that everyone has heard many times. When Kowalski ask permission and then starts to help Stone, they are suddenly warned to abort the mission, due to Russian satellite debris. By the time they are ready to abort and enter the Explorer, debris from the Russian satellite is already approaching quickly. The situation becoming more and more dangerous, Stone and Kowalski are separated. Stone is stuck spinning uncontrollably and getting pulled further out into space, she is panicking of course, and causing her oxygen to go down even faster. Stone finally hears from Kowalski gets direction and starts to calm down. The two are tied together in space and their oxygen levels are lowering. Unable to use the shuttle Explorer, they are forced to take the long journey to the International Space Station. When at the IIS, the two are separated leaving Stone on her own while she is trying to find a way home.

The newbie to space is outstandingly played by Sandra Bullock. Bullock’s acting in this movie makes you really feel how desperate and scared she is. It is her first time in space and it is not going too well to say the least. She’s scared, she’s alone and at some points wants to give up. Stone has no one of contacting Earth and letting them know that there is a survivor. The most inspiring part of Bullock’s acting in this movie was when she had the hallucination of Kowalski and decided that no matter what she was going home. The veteran to space played perfectly by George Clooney was the comedy relief of this movie. Clooney made you laugh at the most suspenseful parts. When Stone was at her worse, Kowalski made it so that she was getting her mind off of panic, and thinking of what it would be like to be back home. These actors help depict the stressful, dreadful, suspenseful scene that unravels after the Russian debris reaches them, causing a domino effect of destruction.

Clooney and Bullock’s characters were strong, and made the movie terrifyingly inspirational. Bullock and Clooney were the perfect match and really made the movie come to life. The best part of Gravity, editing wise, was being able to see from Stone’s perspective. It gave you the feeling of really being in space and made you feel how Stone felt. Feeling out of control and unable to stop. You would even start to feel dizzy from all the spinning. This movie, visually, was amazing. It seemed so real and you always had the sense that you were there. You would feel the dread that the characters felt. One thing that was somewhat of a disappointment was the ending. Of course Stone returns home, but we want to know what happen when she was found, also what happened to Kowalski.

The message of this film is pretty clear and can be a motivation to anyone. It’s about not giving up, even when it seems as though there is no possible way you are going to make it. Stone certainly has her moments of wanting to give up, but somehow finds a reason not to. She doesn’t have anyone to return to, she does not have a husband, her daughter died, she feels like there is no way for her to return home. I believe this movie is a must see, being inspirational and a motivation to those who thing they have no option but to give up, there is a way.

This movie is PG-13, a rating that fits this movie just fine. This movie is geared for a more mature audience, due to some of the language. It’s very suspenseful and would be great for people interested in space. Also good for people who want to sit on the edge of their seats wanting to know what is going to happen next. Gravity was an amazing movie, and I suggest you go see it.
