Ms. Jody Turner has dedicated the past thirty years to the lives of the students at Hammonton by fulfilling the role of school social worker. While attending the State University of New York and Rutgers New Brunswick, and graduating in 1972, Turner studied a variety of ares that eventually lead her to the field of social work.  A gravitational pull to young people and the lives they lived was both appealing and apparent, leading her to the job she has been holding for over three whole decades.

The best piece of advice I would give to other teachers is… try to put fun in your day and laugh more.

During retirement, I plan… sleep for the first month, then travel some, and spend time with my grandchild arriving in October.

Some of the highlights of my career are… working with people I’m now lifelong friends with and meeting wonderful students who have taught and fulfilled me

The best part about this job has been… a feeling of doing something important.

If I could re-do one thing about my career, I would… convince Mr. Ramsey to start high school at 9:00 am.

When I’m not in school, I like to… read, garden, do yoga, and spend time on the beach.
