Newseum Trip

Newseum+Trip

Forty students went on the trip to The Newseum, it is an interactive museum that promotes free expression and the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, while tracing the evolution of communication.

There are many important and exciting exhibits to visit while there, a few are the 9/11 Gallery, The Berlin Wall Gallery, FBI exhibit, Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery, and so many more. There is something new always being added to the Newseum, so there is always something to see.

Throughout the Newseum there are video clips about the exhibit you’re in. For example in the Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery there is a 19 minute video showing some of the pictures located there and what happened in it.

All the way upstairs there is an outdoor terrace that has a beautiful view of the Capitol building and the Art museum

When you buy a ticket to tour the Newseum you are allowed to come back the next day for free. There are many different tours and courses to take at the Newseum. One tour is The First Amendment Highlights Tour.

It even has a section with newspapers from all over the world, written by journalists from all different cultures. There is also an two story glass memorial with names of 2,305 reporters, editors, photographers, and broadcasters that lost their lives reporting news.

There is also a NBC News Interactive Newsroom for visitors to try out. Sometimes journalism classes even do shows right from the newsroom there.

After visiting the Newseum, HHS students went on a tour of the National Mall led by Ms. Rogalcheck. The first stop was the Washington Monument, next the World War ll Memorial, following was the Lincoln Monument, then the Martin Luther King Monument, after that the Capitol Building, and finally the Jefferson Monument.
