Period 3 class meetings participate in door decorating contest to promote school unity and spread holiday cheer.

Room 224: Mr. Williams’s Honors Chemistry class. This door won the contest

Students and staff designed doors as part of Hammonton High School’s Period 3 class meeting program on Tuesday, 12/10, and Wednesday, 12/11.

The meetings, an extension of the school’s Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, included a school-wide viewing of the 2009 viewing of The Blind Side, class discussions about helping others in need, and
a door-decorating contest intended to foster school unity.

Winners of the contest were announced on Friday, 12/13, during Period 3.  The winner was Mr. Anthony Williams’s Honors Chemistry class in Room 224.  Honorable mentions included the gym door (created by phys. ed. classes), Mrs. Yeat’s CP Geometry class in Room 229, Ms. Michaelson’s AP Physics class in room 222, and Mrs. Shaner’s Anatomy and Physiology class in Room 221.

Winners received bracelets with an anti-bullying message.

As a follow-up to the meetings, classes are collecting clothing and gift donations for a local women/children’s shelter. Donations will be accepted through Monday, 12/16.
