Drastic weather changes throw Hammonton High School students for a loop.

Starting at the end of October, the weather went from extreme highs for this time of year to freezing temperatures in the morning. According to NBC News, historical data shows that for the average high for November is 54 and the average low is 32 while the temperature outside is currently 35 degrees.

Students share mixed emotions about this weather drop.

Senior Taylor Downey feels very strong about this weather change and is not prepared at all.

“I use all of my boyfriends sweatshirts because I did not have the opportunity to get winter season clothing”, she said.

However, some students get excited about the change in weather.

“Personally, Im ready for the cold weather, I like this time of the year because I go skiing with my family,” said senior Melanie McLaughlin. “Wearing sweaters and scarves are always a big fashion that I love anyway.”

Does this weather change seem to only affect the female population? It doesn’t seem that way.

Senior Mike Angeline strongly hates the cold temperatures but realizes he no choice in the matter.

“I’m adjusting to the colder weather by wearing warmer clothes and staying in my house a lot more on the weekends,” he said.

The temperatures especially impact student athletes, who spend extended periods of time outdoors.

“I don’t like the cold weather because when Im practicing for football, the colder the weather, the more the hit hurts”, said junior Jared Devita.
