Maddie Gazzara for President

Maddie+Gazzara+for+President

Why do you want to run for this position?

I want to run for this position because I like to be involved in the things the school does. I like setting up for homecoming and hop and I’m looking forward to being involved with my sophomore class.

Please list your qualifications for this office. What kind of experience have you had that would help you with this position?

I was president last year, I was also in student council and involved myself in a handful of other clubs. I played field hockey for the school and I also coach younger girls in Stick Chix field hockey for the town of Hammonton.

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think that your class faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

I think that the biggest challenge this year is going to be adjusting to the new way of school. It’s not as much as a new thing as it seems like, it is just the start of bringing everything back to normal and to how things were before Covid. I think the e hall passes are a good way to help this challenge and another good way it could be addressed is if kids are rewarded for their good behaviors and kind acts.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

Some things I would like to accomplish is setting up a fun homecoming and hop. Another thing is helping with different varieties of fundraisers and school activities to help make the school a better environment.

In 250 words or less, write an explanation to your peers on why you would be the best candidate for the desired position. (Think of this as a speech to your peers)

There are many positions in the class office to go for, and I believe that I fit the spot of president for a variety of reasons. One being that I like to take charge but I also allow help and opinions from others. As class president I would include the entire class and try to get everyone involved. I like to work with my other officers, I don’t just view them as people I’m in class office with; instead, they are like my teammates and we make a great team. I enjoy spending time working with my class. For example, during hallway decorating, I look forward to getting the whole class together in order to try to make our hallway look impressive. Bringing our class together during events like that make us more like a whole and I like the idea of having a unified class where everyone involves each other and themselves. I like to take charge with the other officers and ensure that we make our high school experience the very best that it can be!

Emma Longo For Vice President

Why do you want to run for this position?

I want to run for sophomore class vice president because of my experience being a class officer last school year. I served as vice president when I was a freshman during the 2021-22 school year, and it was no less than an amazing experience. Me and my fellow officers worked hard to put together things like our homecoming hallway and our freshman-sophomore hop, and I am confident that I could do those things even better with the gained experience and knowledge I have from last year. Being one of the leaders of my class last year was a great opportunity and I hope to continue that into my sophomore year!

Please list your qualifications for this office. What kind of experience have you had that would help you with this position?

I am a very dedicated person, which is reflected in both my athletics and academics. I do both track and field hockey for HHS, as well as a club field hockey team in the winter and spring. I also take all honors and AP classes and manage to maintain straight A’s in those advanced classes. I was also my class’s vice president last year, therefore I do have firsthand experience on what being a class officer is like and what the demands are.

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think that your class faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

The biggest challenge our class will face this year is adjusting back to “normal” school after the pandemic. The last time we were in a completely normal school was the middle of our seventh grade year. Now that we are sophomores in high school and things are finally going back to normal, it will take a lot of work and time to fully adjust ourselves to this way of school. As a class officer and the leader of our class, I will be able to hear the voices of our entire class and amplify them to make sure the changes that need to be made are made.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

This school year there are many things that I would like to accomplish. I have plans to fundraise for our class plenty of times this year. This would allow us to lower the cost of hop tickets while also making the dance better decorated and more memorable than ever. Making sure we have the most school spirit out of any of the classes is something that I am very passionate about. Whether this means having the best decorated hallway during homecoming, or introducing fun spirit weeks that get the students excited and engaged, I am willing to do whatever it takes to get everyone involved.

In 250 words or less, write an explanation to your peers on why you would be the best candidate for the desired position.

I am the best candidate for the Class of 2025 vice president because I am dedicated and ready to make this school year the best it can be for all of the students. By electing me into office, you are giving yourself and your fellow classmates the opportunity to voice your opinions and get the things that you really want. I am willing to hear everyone out and make decisions that benefit the greater good of our class. The COVID restrictions are getting to a place that allows us to do things that we haven’t been able to do, and we shouldn’t waste these opportunities. These high school years are precious, and making sure that everyone is able to get involved and make memories doing things that they love will be my number one priority. Our freshman year was fantastic, and by electing me we can make our sophomore year even better. I hope you are as excited about the potential of this year as I am!

Kole Bagnell for Secretary

Why do you want to run for this position?

In my first year being a class officer, I noticed that the officers work more as a team than they do individual positions. I feel that running for secretary will not alter the positions of the successful team we had last year. Also, I really love the environment around the class meetings, and what we do as a whole. My favorite part about being a class officer is making events and school overall the best they can be. With this said, I would love to continue being a class officer this school year along with the years to come.

Please list your qualifications for this office. What kind of experience have you had that would help you with this position?

Not considering that I was the class historian last year, I have many other qualifications that make me fit for this office. I’m very cooperative and attend everything I can relating to my class’ improvement and success. I’m also a caring person who will take everyone’s suggestions and thoughts into consideration. Finally, I’m an outgoing individual who is not afraid to speak at any time necessary. I feel that this is very important because being able to talk to the entirety of the class allows all opinions and thoughts to be heard.

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think that your class faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

I believe that the biggest challenge this year will be getting all normal school rules and regulations followed by the school as a whole. Once the pandemic came, most rules and commands were bent because of the difficult times. Now that the pandemic is over, students have to get back to normal high school ways. This could be a challenge, but addressing students that follow the rules correctly is a great way to handle it. I think that the raffle slips that are being given to rule-following students is an extremely intelligent method to start. I think we can add to this with conversation amongst class officers to make our school as well ordered and structured as possible.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

I have many concerns that I definitely think can be accomplished as a part of the class office. To start, although it is an importance every school year for the class office, I really want the Homecoming and HOP to be as enjoyable as possible. The dances are very important in most students’ school year. It is a time where the whole class comes together for a night of complete fun and happiness. I think making these dances successful would be a huge accomplishment for the class office. Also, I’d like to make events involving the school, such as the trunk or treat, a great time for everyone that attends. To finalize, I’d love to make our class and our school as great as it really can be by focusing on the things that will make our school look better overall.

I’m running for the secretary position to record everyone in the sophomore class’ suggestions and thoughts for the school. Once I’ve heard the voices of our class, I will bring it to the class office at our meetings to try and adjust everything we can. I am a varsity baseball player, so I’m well aware of the changes that student athletes are interested in. This also applies to the students that are members of clubs, as well. I want to include all members of the class as best as I can, so everyone enjoys the school’s environment. Now that Covid restrictions are mostly behind us, suggestions will be much easier to take into action. With this said, I think I’m the best-fit candidate for the sophomore class secretary.

Kiley Kozlowski for Treasurer

Why do you want to run for this position?

I have been a student in Hammonton since kindergarten. I am familiar with many of the students in the sophomore class. I would like to run for secretary so that I can use my skills to keep our class informed of what goes on in the meetings and to help unify our class.

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think that your class faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

The biggest challenge our class faces this school year is recovering from the Covid pandemic that affected all of us. Many students suffered socially and academically. I am hoping that students take advantage of some of the tutoring that is available through the NHS members if they feel they are behind in some of their classes. Also, regarding the social aspect, we need to get more students involved in extracurricular activities, especially those that involve our class.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

As an officer this school year, I would like to promote class unity. When I hear stories about past Hammonton High School years, I wish we lived during a time when students attended dances and got involved in school activities, which bonded the class into a tight-knit group. I will strive for a drama-free year where the goal is for everyone in the class to get along and perhaps invite new friendships to evolve into already established cliques.

I believe I would be the best treasurer for our class. I am detail-oriented, well-organized, willing to keep the class informed of what is going on within the class, approachable, responsible, and welcome new challenges that should arise. My work ethic speaks for itself, which can be seen in my performance in my classes and sports. My experience as an officer of the Nurse’s Club will help me navigate as your potential class treasurer. As secretary of the class, I will make myself available to the other officers, faculty, and peers for any questions they may have. Furthermore, my experience organizing drives for Dupont Hospital’s children, animal shelters, and various other volunteering opportunities will me help you throughout the year. My academic and athletic record demonstrates that I have what it takes to be a class officer and I hope to help make our class even greater than it is! One of my ideas is to incorporate a suggestion box for ideas to implement that will help make it a fun year. My wish for our class is to fun making memories together by hanging out and supporting each other. Let’s do this!

Finally, as a student athlete here at Hammonton High School, I have learned how to work with a team to be successful.

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think that your class faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

I think that one of the biggest challenges this year will be shifting back to a normal school year after covid. This year will first the first normal year since 2019. I want to advocate for my classmates to have the closest to normal year as possible. Also I believe we will always be challenged by the changing social dynamics within our community. It is important that we continue to respect each other and also be consistent of community standards and how we act as a class and live day to day.

Fellow classmates of 2025, as we navigate through the chaotic times handed to us by the adults in charge. We need class officers who will always think of us first. We need class officers who can see look past the noise around us, and always work to keep our time here in Hammonton as great as it possibly can be. We as a class must look after each other first, keep our spirits high and never forget that these should be some of the most memorable times of our lives.

I am asking for your vote as secretary to ensure our class has somebody to constantly advocate for us, and do whatever it takes to make our years in HHS the best they can possibly be. You can put your trust in me, your fellow classmate, teammate, and friend, to always put our class first.
