Abby Goblirsch for President

Why do you want to run for office?

I am running for President in order to ensure that our class has a memorable year. Accomplishing successful events and listening to the opinions of the student body are very important to me leading into this school year.

Please list your qualifications for this office. What kind of experience have you had that would help you with this position?

In my years at Hammonton High School, I have been an active member in Green Club, Live it Be it Club, and Student Council. I am a 3rd year varsity field hockey player. As a student-athlete, I balance the academic, athletic, and social part o f my life year round. Last year, I was the Sophomore Class President where we: organized meet-ups to execute our Homecoming hallway, prepped for pep rallies, and planned the HOP, all with the amazing support of the class officers and student volunteers. Even though we were faced with some challenges, the TEAM was always able to make it work!

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think the school and student body faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

While I hate to bring up the pandemic, I think that our class is really looking forward to a complete school year with the same amount of opportunities and events that there has been in the past. The class of 2024 has yet to experience a typical HS year, and It will be the biggest challenge for the governing body to ensure that each student feels like the never missed out. Personally, I am truly looking forward to pep rallies, prom, sporting events, homecoming, trips, and other school events.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

I want to satisfy the class as a whole. Listening to the opinions of the study body is very important to me. I hope that all of the Juniors at Hammonton would feel comfortable making suggestions to me, and the other class representatives on how to make this school year great! We are all BLUE DEVILS, and I will focus on making everyone feels welcome at HHS.

In 250 words or less, write an explanation to your peers on why you would be the best candidate for the desired position.

As your Junior Class President, you can be assured that I will use my experience from last year as a guide to this year. As a leader, I would not hesitate to speak up for my classmates in order to achieve an ideal school year. My job is to create a supportive, safe, and accepting environment where the junior class can be themselves, and make it through what is apparently “the worst year of high school”. With the upcoming stresses of decisions about our futures, I would hope that the excitement of school events would keep the student body wanting to come to school, finding excitement in what the student government has in store. As president, I want to make each of you look back and say at the end of junior year, “I don’t think it can get better than that!”

Adriel Montecillo for President

Why do you want to run for this position?

I am running for the Class of 2024 President because I want this school year to be as smooth and memorable as much as possible. After the COVID-19 pandemic, mask-wearing, and social distancing, we can finally have a school year that can be normal. I, and the future class officers, would like to bring in fun and exciting activities while also improving the morale of the student body. Many students think that Junior year is a challenging year, and it is! Students during this time look into colleges, scholarships, service to the country, or any way to make a difference outside of Hammonton High School! As President, I, and the future class officers, can bring in activities and opportunities the Class of 2024 can remember when they look back on their high school years.

Please list your qualifications for this office. What kind of experience have you had that would help you with this position

This past summer, I was a Lifeguard Manager at Hammonton Swim Club. I managed a group of ten lifeguards in ensuring all pool policies are being followed, enforced, and maintained while providing to patrons on interest about the facility. This kind of work requires effective communication while being ready to see the challenges that lies ahead of the day.

Along with being a Lifeguard Manager, I was also a Blood Donor Ambassador. Which means I help facilitate the Blood Donation process. I would check people in, ask for identification, and redirect them to the proper area. I would also monitor patrons after blood donation to ensure any complications are noted and acted upon by Red Cross Staff. This kind of work requires attention to detail to ensure patrons information is entered accurately, and that any unusual behavior is immediately documented and reported.”

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think that your class faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

The biggest challenge that our class faces this year is the quick leap of responsibility we have as Juniors. Junior year is the year when we as students have to plan what we want to do for the rest of our lives. This sudden change can be met with difficulty for students, but this can be solved by offering more opportunities to students. This can mean opening up suggestion boxes so students can submit ideas that can better improve the student body, holding more class meetings to get a better understanding of what the class wants, or allowing the student body to decide on certain events such as hallway decoration themes.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

Something that I would like to accomplish as an officer this school year is giving more opportunities to the class to vote on topics. When events come such as hallway decoration, Prom, or anything that involves the class to participate, I want students to have a say on what we should do.

Hello Class of 2024!  I will be running for President for your class this school year! Being the President of a class comes with an opportunity to learn and grow as a leader. I believe that with my prior experience being a class officer from last year, I can use what I learned and bring it forth to a wide audience. These past three years have been hard on all of us, especially us who never had a normal underclassmen year. I want to make the Class of 2024 have the best experience possible during these last two years of our high school career. I am here to support and listen to any concerns about the student body. Vote Adriel for Class of 2024 President!

Angelina Cortellessa for Vice President

Why do you want to run for this position?

I want to run for vice president of the class of 2024 because I value student leadership and want to see our classes needs being met, and I would like the class of 2024 to succeed in every way possible.

Please list your qualifications for this office. What kind of experience have you had that would help you with this position?

I have many qualifications for being vice president. I have had the privilege of vice presidency for two years, and as vice president I hosted a homecoming painting party and gathered and set up the class of 2024 hallway for homecoming, with the help of fellow class officers and classmates. In addition, I also helped to find a theme suitable for HOP and decorated the HOP venue along with the other class officers. I participate in multiple extra curricular activities such as: Field Hockey, Winter Track, Spring Track, Leo Club, Green Club, Live it, be it, club, and student council. Aside from school qualifications, I am active in our community by doing various community service events such as: ACUA events, the Camden County Pop-Up Library, Winslow Township All Start Buddy Program, and more.

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think that your class faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

The biggest challenge the student body faces is a lack of unity and lack of school spirit. It is apparent that we as a class lack the unity that would bring us together as a class. Unity is needed to create a fun yet safe school environment. Another challenge that our school and class faces is a lack of school spirit. School spirit is necessary to show the importance of Hammonton Pride and to support everyone at Hammonton High School. Both issues should be addressed by creating an environment that is welcoming and comforting. I would welcome ideas and feedback from my peers to bring a sense of community and inclusion in our class.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

As an officer this year, I would like have more events that everyone can be involved in because we lost many events due to the abnormality of both our freshman and sophomore years.

In 250 words or less, write an explanation to your peers on why you would be the best candidate for the desired position.

I would be the best candidate for the vice presidency of the class of 2024 because I value and accept the leadership and dedication that it takes to be a class officer. I want everyone to feel that they are being heard and that their needs are being met. By electing me as vice president, I will assure that everyone feels welcome. I am excellent when working in a group setting due to being involved in many sports and extra curricular activities. I know that junior year is very hard and time consuming but this year will be very fun and exciting! I hope everyone is as excited as I am for the 2022-2023 school year!

Gianna Johnson for Vice President

Gianna Johnson for Vice President

Why do you want to run for this position?

I have decided to run for Vice President because I am passionate about school and the activities it has to offer. I embrace all that our school has to offer from academics to athletics and believe there is something for everyone. I would like to share my enthusiasm with my school community and think that my strong leadership skills and dedication can continue to bring the class of 2024 together, to form a tight bond. I welcome new ideas from my peers and council members and am excited to share and implement my ideas with Hammonton High School.

Please list your qualifications for this office. What kind of experience have you had that would help you with this position?

I have successfully held the position of Class treasurer for two consecutive years. The position has provided me with opportunity to get involved in school functions such as Halloween, HOP, and school pep rallies. My involvement with sports such as soccer, golf and dance have taught me how to be a team player and form bonds with my peers while pushing me out of my comfort zone. These skills have taught me to push harder for myself and others. I have learned to persevere when situations are need of attention or when life isn’t going as planned. I know how to adjust when change is needed and I know how to step up, roll my sleeves and get a job done.

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think that your class faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

I believe that the 2022-2023 school year will be a huge adjustment for the class of 2024. We have not had a “normal” year of high school, since starting at Hammonton High School two years ago. With school finally getting back to the way things were, prior to the pandemic, we will be faced with new procedures and tougher course loads then we are used to. Junior year is full of excitement as we begin our preparations for the future. The increased courses, preparation for testing, college selections and exploring trades can be daunting. I believe that we can assist students by offering resources as well as fun activities to help elevate any stress.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

As an officer, this school year, I would like to focus on having everyone in the 2024 class feel more united than they have previous years. This can be accomplished by holding school activities that will be fun as well as team building. Incorporating fundraising opportunities can assist with the cost of these activities as well as fund any other upcoming events.

In 250 words or less, write an explanation to your peers on why you would be the best candidate for the desired position.

Hello Class of 2024! I believe I’ll make a great candidate for this position. I have the experience that a Vice President needs. I previously served as your class treasurer in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years. The leadership and teamwork experience I have gained through class office, clubs and sports will enable me to assist our class in school activities and fundraisers. I hope to have your support in the 2022-2023 school year, so I can help make your high school years memorable and fun. I am very dedicated to serving my class as Vice President and I look forward to a successful school year with my fellow classmates!

Angelina Catania for Secretary

Why do you want to run for this position?

I have a lot of experience that would help with my position. I work at that Hammonton Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) and count inventory to make sure we have what we need and tell an elder what we need to get. I also had the position of secretary last year, and that gave me the experience of scheduling our next meetings. I help at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society and see if we have enough supplies so we can get through the week of the feast smoothly. Another thing I do is organize some of my parents files into folders so they can find them very easily. I work at Ninos, and I have experience there with having the coins always stocked up, and I greet people that come in. I have helped interact club plan different fundraisers and schedule meetings. I also am very organized when it comes to due dates and meetings. I will help keep everyone on track and up to date.

Officers are leaders of the student body. Please state the biggest challenge you think that your class faces during this school year. How should this challenge be addressed?

I think they biggest challenge that my class will face is socializing. Over they past two years COVID has compromised the ways students socialize and learn. Many students have stayed hidden and only contact others through the phone and not face to face. As much as our phones are important to us, being able to talk and converse face to face is equally as important. This challenge should be addressed with different games and meetings. Peer mediation is a great way for students to get help and talk to others. Also different ways our students can talk to each other and get to know each other would help solve this issue.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

I would like to accomplish some fun spirits and themes for homecoming. Homecoming week is my favorite when we decorate the school and all the hallways are themes and so colorful. I want to help the student class become more involved in our school spirit and supporting each other.

During these difficult times, class officers must have compassion and be leaders for our peers. The challenge I think this school faces this year is definitely finally transition from a Covid high school experience to a first and finally normal high school experience. This is everyone’s first real year of a high school finally back to normal and I want to help students feel that way.

What are some things you would like to accomplish as an officer this school year?

Some things I would like to accomplish this year is maybe setting up a student lounge so people with a free period can hang out or get extra help. I know we have the library, but a teen lounge could be more welcoming and inviting to meet new people.

I think that many students might not know how to handle everything that will come at them this year and I can be a voice of reason. This challenge should be addressed by keeping things in perspective and weighing out the hurdles that my classmates face.
