In your opinion, what is/are the most pressing issue(s) for HHS students this year?

In my opinion, the most pressing issues for HHS students this year would be the COVID pandemic affecting every student’s learning experience, participation in school events, and their extracurricular lives. College Applications along with school itself is stressful already, and the pandemic only makes it emotionally and physically worse.

What is important about this year/grade (i.e. freshman year, sophomore year, junior year, senior year), and what role do you believe class officers have in making it a successful one?

College applications and senior events such as prom, senior trip, and graduation are the most important aspects of senior year. Therefore, I think the role of class officers would be to make senior prom, senior trip, along with graduation, the most memorable and fun events of this year.

What are some of the strengths of the HHS student community?

The HHS community is really involved in sporting events such as football, school spirits, and it is academically strong for a relatively small school. HHS also has various clubs and sports that can act as a connection to make new friends and to have fun.

What are some areas of the HHS experience that could be better?

HHS experience could be better if school starts later in the morning, because sleep is the fundamental of happiness and health. Students usually arrive home late due to sports and work, and then they have to do homework and study for exams until midnight. Therefore, sleep deprivation can cause one’s academic performance to decrease and it can make students feel depressed, which makes school less enjoyable and more stressful. As a result, students’ participation in school events, clubs, and sports would also decrease, because when people are not in a good mood, they are not likely to communicate and participate with others.

A question that I should have been asked would be: Why would I be a good choice for Senior Class Treasurer?

I would be a good choice for Senior Class Treasurer because I am new to this position as Class Treasurer, so I can bring new ideas and thoughts. Along with that, since I am new, I would be more efficient and hardworking because this experience would be new and interesting for me. In addition, I participate in many school clubs, school events, and community service activities, so I would definitely love to participate in the student government, where I can help budget the financial expenses and record financial transactions. Let’s make Senior Year, our last year together, the most memorable one of High School!
