Mia Mars for Senior Class Treasurer

In your opinion, what is/are the most pressing issue(s) for HHS students this year?

The most pressing issue for highschool students this year is living up to social and educational expectations. Many kids see high and unrealistic expectations of what they should be doing through social media. The lack of living up to these expectations can cause kids to feel they are not good enough, pushing them off of the tack of success.

What is important about this year/grade (i.e. freshman year, sophomore year, junior year, senior year), and what role do you believe class officers have in making it a successful one?

I believe that the most important aspect of senior year is having fun and being involved. Before you know it, senior year will be over, so it is important that you make the most of it while you can. As a senior class officer, I will try my best to create fun activities so all students will want to be involved and have the most school spirit possible.

What are some of the strengths of the HHS student community?

The HHS student community is composed of small neighboring towns where almost everyone knows each other. This has made it so much easier for students to come together and complete one common goal- making HHS a better place for everyone. Our students have come together to create a highly rated school with great competitive sports and amazing academics.

What are some areas of the HHS experience that could be better?

The variety of after school activities that HHS offers could be more diverse. We should introduce more intramural sports, for the kids who would like to get active, but not necessarily compete at a higher level. These additions might help more kids to become active in their out of school life.

Why should I be the senior class treasurer? I feel as though I am the right candidate for many reasons. To start, I am highly involved in school activities, and I love participating in school functions and events. Making a better experience for my classmates is what I strive to do. I have participated in preparing for school functions like pep rallies and dances even when I was not an officer. Also, I am outspoken about the school’s needs and I have the drive to get things done when others would quit. Lastly, I take a wide variety of classes, so I am willing to speak out for a diverse group of kids. I have come to know a large portion of my class and I can see issues that some kids who only take the highest level classes could not.
