Chocolate. Roses. Teddy Bears. Dinner at an expensive restaurant.

If you really love your significant other, wouldn’t you want to treat them right? Don’t you want them to know you love them?

On February 14, love is shared between couples all over the world and all over Hammonton High School.

Valentines Day is a day in which you spread love and cheer and spoil them to let them know that you love and care about them.

Most people love Valentines day and the perks that come with the holiday.

Junior Dylan Mento likes to keep it simple.

“I like to spend time with my girlfriend,” he said.

The same is true for senior Jenna Sanfilippo.

“I love spending time with my boyfriend,” she said. “But, I will admit, I also enjoy the presents. I like flowers, but also something original and from the heart.”

For others, Valentine’s Day can be special because of family.

“Every year on Valentines Day, I wakeup to chocolate covered pretzels and a box of chocolate shaped like a rose from my mom,” said senior Shane Worthington.

Not everyone is a fan, though. Some believe it is a Hallmark “made-up” holiday that is wasteful.

“It’s stupid. People should show love everyday and not just one day a year,” said Mrs. Judy Shaner.

Coach Greg Silvesti agrees.

“Valentine’s Day is a waste of time and money,” he said. “Girls are usually never pleased anyway.”

Senior Gina Sinonolfi doe not have a problem with Valentines Day, but there are some negatives about it.

“I don’t mind it. It’s nice if you have a boyfriend, but not the end if the world if you don’t.”
