Deferred Action of Childhood Arrival, or DACA for short.

It’s a program that was introduce back in 2012 when Obama was president. It allows people who were brought into the United States as children to live temporarily and be protected from deportation. The program does not provide a pathway to citizenship, but it allows the person to study and get a work permit for them to work in the U.S with no problem.

Back in September 2017 Trump administration was threatened to end the DACA program and they were giving six months, if President Trump doesn’t come up with an alternative for the DACA recipient they can be in fear of deportation.

They are 690,000 undocumented young adults who are receiving DACA, and are able to get jobs in the U.S with no problem. They are 20,000 teachers who are DACA recipient that will be affected if the program is taking down, such as deportation. But not only are the teacher endangered but also the students.

They are little over 365,000 students who are currently in high school that eligible for DACA and 241,000 that have DACA and are enrolled in college. It will be a drastic change in the community if 690,000 young adult suddenly have to face deportation knowing that they don’t know anything about the country they were originally from.

Silicon Valley, home of many start-up global technology companies are fighting to protect DACA. 85,000 undocumented adults working for major company and fighting by their side. The CEO of Apple Tim Cook put on twitter 250 of my Apple coworkers are #Dreamers. I stand with them. They even submitted a petition of over 23,000 signature fighting for DACA workers to be protected. It’s not just Apple they are 300 business leader that signed a letter to Trump’s administrator for them to continue the Dreamers program.

There’s a lot of negativity coming from the public about how the DACA recipient should be deported back to their country. However, people shouldn’t blame them because they were brought to the U.S as a young age.

They grew up here.

It’s the the place they have been calling home, for some it’s been home for 30 years.

Teachers, doctors, entrepreneurs, actress, singer and many more are  DACA recipients and are fearing what’s going to happened next.
