In today’s society, we are not considered individuals, but instead we are data clusters, at least through the Internet anyway. The unfortunate truth is that we go about our lives completely unaware of the digital shadow we cast through social networking. Frankly, social networking has become a way of life, but just how much of your life can be exposed through your profiles?

Screen shot 2014-04-22 at 9.03.56 AMFacebook, one of the leading social networking sites, is proving to say a lot more about you than just what you look like and who your friends are.

In fact a new website “Digitalshadow.com” can tell you a lot about yourself by simply connecting to your Facebook account.

In fact, this spooky new site can tell you just about anything and everything about you, including your interests, who you stalk, who stalks you, where and when you spend the most time, and even how much money you make.

The setup for the new website “Digital Shadow” is actually promoting a new spy game by Unisoft, and boy  it does a good job spying.

After you fist connect your Facebook account to the site, it begins scraping your profile for data, and comes up with a list of your “pawns” or closest friends, your “obsessions” or the people you tend to “creep” on, your “scapegoats” or in their words the people you don’t interact ouch with and would willingly sacrifice in necessary.

The scariest part about this is that all of the information the site gathers is from all the things that you WILLINGLY post on Facebook! By allowing these watch dogs to search through your account, you can see the things your employers or potential employers can see and tell about you. Its a sobering experience, and can teach people how the internet could be used against them, as well as how easy you may be making it for someone to stalk you, hack your account, or even steal your personal information.

So before you go ahead and post about your most private things, or discreetly talk under your breath over Facebook, remember the potential creeps that are out there, and how easy your making it for them to get to know you.

As Digital Shadow would say, ” You are not an individual, you are a data cluster.”
