Christmas Traditions

Christmas+Traditions

Christmas traditions take place in many house holds across the country.

You might decorate a tree and kiss under the mistletoe.

Little kids believe that a man in a red suit can fit down a chimney and leaves them presents.

Candy canes may appear in the house, and holiday cards start arriving in the mailboxthat show others are thinking about them during this season.

One of the traditions that I always do is I decorate the tree with my siblings. My parents sit on the floor and hand out the ornaments. Then, on Christmas Eve, my “Who” family gathers at the “Never There Gun Club,” and we have a feast called “Sea of Seven Fishes.” An Italian tradition, seven different fish are served, including shrimp, clams, flounder, salmon and a bunch of other ones. We always have spaghetti and delicious homemade meatballs and gravy.

However, such a large gathering is not for everyone, and every tradition is different.

The faculty and staff shared some of their favorite times this time of year.

Staff member Judy DeAntonellis’ favorite tradition is spending time with family, hanging out with her in-laws and changing gifts with her family. She likes this because she enjoy spending time with the people she cares and loves.

For  Mrs. Kathy  Prenger, the media specialist, exchanging cards is a favorite activity.

“I love this tradition because even though I don’t talk to all the people in my family a lot [during the year], it’s nice for to catch up with them,” she said.

Sophomore  Dalton Attanasi enjoys just spending time with his family.

“It’s the one time of year that I get to spend time with everyone,” he said. “I also like to make chocolate chip cookies with my family.”
