The holiday season is the time of the year that brings together family and friends. They might gather around the table to drink hot chocolate,  share a meal, or even bake cookies together.

However, the table isn’t the only thing that people gather around during this time of year. What else brings loved ones together? The television.

For many students and staff, the tradition of watching Christmas movies together is just as important as leaving the cookies they baked on a plate for Santa.

In my opinion,  ‘A Christmas Story,’ starring Peter Billingsley, is a must-watch because it shows that even though a family may not have a lot of money, they can still have a good time.

Students and staff provide their recommendations for your holiday season below:

Mrs. Kathy  Prenger (media specialist):  “It’s a Wonderful Life”, starring James Stewart, is her favorite because it’s uplifting, warm-hearted, and has a great ending. She watched it with her kids while they still lived at home, and now she watches it with her husband.

Aaron Ortiz (Grade 12): “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, starring Jim Carrey, is his favorite because he likes the song “Where Are You Christmas?” He watches this movie whenever it comes on.

Mrs. Diane Smith (hall monitor): Her favorite holiday movie is ‘Home Alone,’ starring Macaulay Culkin because Kevin McCallister looks like her older son. She watches it every year with her family.

Grace Watson (Grade 10): Favorite christmas movie is “Elf”, starring Will Ferrell, because she thinks that it is funny. Her tradition for this movie is that she watches it every year for a good laugh.

Jeremy Dunleavy (Grade 10): His favorite christmas movie is ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ starring Jim Carrey because he thinks that it is funny and likes Jim Carrey. The tradition for him for this movie is that he watches it every year with his cousin Ryan.
