Green Club Helps the Globe

Selling reusable bags, picking up trash in the park, and kayaking.

What do all these things have in common? They are all activities of the Green Club.

The Green Club, which focuses projects to help the environment, is a club for students who want to make positive impact on their world.  The club is also a nice addition to a student’s resume when applying to college because the group does many community service activities.

The club’s current project is selling reusable bags to decrease the amount of plastic used, as a fundraiser for new projects and outdoor trips such as kayaking, rock climbing, and even possibly white water rafting.

The ACUA Hammonton Lake Clean-Up is another activity that students take part in every March, which is followed up by the Downtown Hammonton Clean-Up.

The club also spends time together doing fun activities “in the great outdoors” like ski trips and kayaking.

Junior Alyssa Worrell said her favorite activity with the club was the kayaking trip.

“While we were kayaking, a student tipped over and fell into the water,” she said. “It was so funny; it was only 40 degrees outside!”

Junior Megan Bozarth enjoyed “Green Day” because she liked going to different tables and seeing ways to help the environment get better.

Students join for many different reasons. Worrell joined the club because she’s passionate about the environment and every little bit helps.  Bozarth, on the other hand, joined because she needed extra curricula’s for college and she likes the environment.

Groups like the Green Club are making strides to improve the world to the world we live in.
