The atmosphere of Friday night lights is truly special. Whether it is the players, cheerleaders, band members, or the fans, everyone comes together to embrace school spirit and unity. If you haven’t come, you need to.
Student section fan Emily Chesebro loves being a part of it.
“Our student section is a great experience because it is an exciting way to bring everyone together. It’s the best place to be with all your friends, cheering like crazy, showing off our school spirit, and having an awesome time together. It really makes the game so much more exciting,” she said.
And the fun isn’t just for the fans- the cheerleaders feel it, too. In fact, their top priority is to get the crowed pumped for the game.
“We play a big role to get everyone hyped for the game. We make sure to cheer the players on and have fun with the crowd,” said senior Delaina Sullivan.
Cheerleaders do several dances with the band, who sit beside the student section.
Players know that the bigger the crowd, the more hyped they get. There is a direct connection between the energy on the sidelines and the energy on the field.
“The energy ofc the home remakes my performance go through the roof. The intensity at home and having people cheer and scream your name is amazing,” said senior DeAndre Clemons. “The way I play is way better and my confidence shoots out the roof for sure. When I make a big play I like interacting with the home crowd so I can get them and myself pumped. So yeah, playing at home is the best feeling in the whole world.”
Make sure you’re there Friday night when Hammonton takes on Shawnee at the Homecoming game.
