One Of Us: Ms. Robin Chieco
Background: Superintendent Robin Chieco graduated from Penn State and received her Master’s and her Advanced Certificate from Georgian Court and Drexel University. Working in the Hammonton School district for 35 years, Chieco started off as a chemistry teacher, which she did for almost 20 years. She then served as the district supervisor of math and science and assistant superintendent before she attained her current position.
If you were not in the education field, what is another job you could envision yourself having, and why?
When I first started college, I was majoring in engineering. Because I like to be in an office working with people, I just love to be around a team and have a “administration” approach.
If you found a genie in a bottle, what is one wish you might ask?
I just want my kids to be happy.
Do you live by any mottos or advice? If so, what is it?
“It’s not just about you.” That means you can’t be selfish about things you have to see the things around you. So take care of others before you take care of yourself.

Anything inspirational and happy and upbeat and talking about celebrating (Example: Abba)
What’s something that most people would be surprised to learn about you?
I played tennis in high school, and I was a part of the first doubles team.
What was your favorite subject in school and why?
The sciences such as chemistry and physics because I like the order of thing, and I like the approach it has.
What is one place on your travel bucket list?
Italy because I would love to go there with my family.
What’s something new that you’ve learned about education in your role as superintendent that you didn’t know before?
It is not a “one size fits all.” Everything should have multiple resources, and everything has a different outlook so always hear everything out.
What’s a piece of advice you would give to the Class of 2023?
“You are your own person And fight for what you believe in and what is right and don’t always think about yourself.”
What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Cinnamon bun with the cream cheese icing.
