Coach Morrell, who joined the HHS staff as a physical education teacher this year, attended and graduated from Overbrook High School in 2004. He then attended Rowan University and graduated in 2009 with his BA Health and Exercise Science degrees. After college he taught at Overbook High School, Lindenwold Middle School, and now Hammonton High School. He has been teaching Physical Education since 2011. He has held the positions of Health and PE Teacher, Head Baseball Coach, Middle School Head Wrestling Coach, and Assistant Football Coach.

I was inspired to go into education… my mother was a big inspiration, she taught students with special needs and I always loved visiting her classroom. She always thought I would make a good teacher.

My least favorite thing about my job is… whenever we can’t go outside because of the weather.

The thing I enjoy most about my job is… the students and staff I get to work with each day. They make it fun to come to work each day.

My biggest fear is… having one of the Lady Phys Ed teachers mad at me.

One thing about me that would surprise people is… my wife and I are expecting our child in the fall. Students are, for some reason, usually surprised when they hear that I already have a three year old daughter. We are expecting our second daughter in September.

When I’m not in school, you can find me… spending time with my family down the shore or watching my nieces and nephews play sports.

One thing I learned after my first year at HHS is… how much the staff really cares about the students here. I see teachers go out of their way to help students every day, and I think that is what makes HHS such a special place to work.
