Week 15 of the NFL: Game Recap

Week 15 of the NFL: Game Recap

Oakland and Cowboys

  • Final Score: 20-17
  • Why this game mattered: This game mattered because it determined for both teams to still stay in the hunt for the playoff race.
  • MVP of the game and why: My MVP of the game was Jeff Heath. Jeff Heath is one of the two starting safeties for the Dallas Cowboys. On the last play of the game, Derek Carr scrambled out of the pocket and took off for the end zone. About near the 5 yard line, Jeff Heath dove to knock Carr out of bounds. Not only did he knock him out of bounds, but he also caused Carr to fumble. The ball rolled into the end zone and made its way out of bounds. Due to NFL rules, it’s considered a touchback for the Cowboys. Dallas got the ball back with little time remaining. Dak Presscott took a knee to finish the game, and Dallas came out on top with the victory as they still remain in the hunt for playoffs.
  • Most Exciting Play and why for each: The most exciting play was Jeff Heath hustling over to the side line to knock Derek Carr out of bounds and caused him to fumble for a touchback for the Cowboys.

Eagles and Giants

  • Final Score: 34-29
  • Why this game mattered: This game didn’t mean much for either team. The Eagles already clinched a playoff spot, and they already clinched the NFC East. The Giants have been out of the playoff race for quite a while now due to many injuries for them. The only meaningful thing for this game was for Philadelphia to clinch the 1 seed for the playoffs.
  • MVP of the game and why: Nick Foles because he stepped in a tough spot and got the job done.
  • Most Exciting Play and why for each: Nelson Agholor catching the ball in the end zone to extend the lead from 24-23 to 31-23. It was exciting because he jumped up and caught it over the defensive back.

Patriots and Steelers

  • Final Score: 27-24
Why this game mattered: There was really no meaningful reason. It was just a brawl between the two best teams in the AFC.
  • MVP of the game and why: Tom Brady because he’s the best QB in the league and he always gets the job done.
  • Most Exciting Play and why for each: Probably the most controversial call of the 2017 season when Jesse James caught the ball and reached for the end zone. While he reached for the end zone and already crossed the pylon, he lost possession when he reached and the ball hit the ground which caused him to lose possession. He already crossed the goal line with full possession so in my opinion it should be a TD. According to NFL Rules, you have to maintain full possession throughout the whole process of completing the pass as you cross the goal line.
