A couple weeks ago, Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a season-ending ACL injuring, making Nick Foles the starter.  Let’s take at at other teams that suffered equally season-changing injuries and how they did.

New England Patriots

It was the the first week of the regular season and Tom Brady’s 8th season in the NFL and was coming off a 2007 MVP season. Tom Brady was starting against the Kansas City Chiefs and was hoping for another MVP caliber season as any other great quarterback would. Tom Brady was driving down the field and doing great until Chiefs Safety Bernard Pollard came in with the hit on Tom Brady tearing his ACL and MCL taking him out for the season. As any other fan would feel when the starting quarterback goes down and is out for the rest of the season they felt hopeless for the remainder of the season. Matt Cassel became the starter for the patriots and he wasn’t messing around he lead New England to a 11-5 record but sadly didn’t make the playoffs becoming one of the first teams with that good of a record.

Indianapolis Colts

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning got injured on a play during the Washington Redskins game in 2011. Manning pinched a nerve in his neck which costed him to miss the entire 2012 season. Peyton dropped back in the pocket, and defensive end Andre Carter came across the line and sacked manning. During the hit, Manning’s helmet was violently ripped off his head, causing his neck to whip back, and pinching a nerve. In the 2012 NFL draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected quarterback Andrew Luck out of Stanford University. Luck was a first round, first overall pick. In Lucks rookie year, he led his team to an 11-5 record, threw for 23 touchdowns, and 4,000+ yards. The Colts made the playoff this year but suffered a 24-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Wild Card Weekend. Andrew Luck also was a pro bowler this year.

Houston Texans

The Houston Texans traded away their starting quarterback Brock Osweiler to the Cleveland Browns because he didn’t live up to his standards at all. They then traded and received a first round and drafted former college National Champion DeShaun Watson out of Clemson. He began the season on the bench backing up Tom Savage. In the first half of the first game of the season Tom was really stinking it up, so coach Bill O’Brien decided to start the second half with Watson at QB. Watson impressed the coach’s to earn a start in the second game of the season against the Bengals. He again impressed and led the team to a Win. The next week is when he would really start to pick up steam. Against the Patriots, Watson got his team to within 3 points against the reigning champs. He would go on a tear by throwing for 3+ TDs and 225 Yards per game. His best game was arguably against the Chiefs where he threw for 5 TD passes, 261 Yards and no interceptions. This would all change after another 3 point loss to the Seahawks. Watson was at practice when he went down clenching his knee, when he was evaluated and got MRIs it was determined he had torn his ACL in his knee, ending his spectacular rookie season. Fans everywhere grieved in sadness that a very exciting ,upcoming ,young, quarterbacks season was over as fast as it started. Watson is one of the leading candidates for Offensive Rookie of the Year while only playing 7 games.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers have an amazing talent at quarterback and his name is Aaron Rodgers. He has previously lead his team to many playoff appearances and and a superbowl win in the past. Heading into the 2017 season Aaron lead his team off to 4 and 1 start until the packers went against division rival Minnesota Vikings. Aaron Rodgers played most of the game until LineBacker Anthony Barr came off the edge and took Aaron Rodgers down to the ground breaking his collarbone taking him out for several weeks and messing up the packers season. They Green Bay Packers lost this game against the Vikings and had to start Brett Hundley for the remainder of the time. The packers lost to the Vikings making them 4 and 2 then Brett Hundley came in going 3 and 4 not doing to well or living up to what the packers wanted this season. After seven weeks Aaron Rodgers came back to vs the Panthers and lost 31-24 and Aaron Rodgers got hurt again and is out for the season. The playoff hopes for the Packers is most likely gone.    

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have been struggling at the quarterback position and just lacking skill in multiple very important positions. Until the 2017 season came along singing a lot of big names in the offseason making this team great. Carson Wentz came to play this year and he didn’t mess around at all. Wetz lead the Eagles to one of their best season in a while starting the team out 11-2 which won them the NFC East beating the Los Angeles Rams 43-35, even though the Eagles got the win they took the biggest loss of the season when quarterback Wentz was out the remainder of the game with a knee injury and was doubtful to return. Eagles fans everywhere were so disappointed with what happened and didn’t know how to feel about Nick Foles entering the game. Foles kept the team alive to beat the rams but his first start was going to be against the New York Giants. Nick Foles did not disappoint throwing 4 touchdown passes and leading the Eagles to a win against the Giants beating them 34-29 and clinching a first round bye. Nick Foles didn’t disappoint and needs to keep it going to keep their Super Bowl hopes going.
