College Football Power Rankings

With the regular season at its end I have ranked what I think are the top five teams going into bowl season.

  1.     Clemson
  • Last matchup: 1 Clemson vs 10 UNC, Final 45-37
  • Next Game: 1 Clemson vs 4 Oklahoma, 12/31

 

Clemson came away with a victory in the ACC championship game against UNC. Deshaun Watson had 289 yards and 3 TDs and RB Wayne Gallman had 187 yards and 1 TD. The game was not close but then the 4th quarter came. with the score 45-37 UNC went for a onsides and got the ball back but a penalty for offsides gave the ball back to Clemson They now move on to the college football playoffs to play 4 Oklahoma for a chance to play in the Championship.

 

  1.       Alabama
  • Last matchup: 2 Alabama vs 18 Florida, Final 29-15
  • Next game: 2 Alabama vs 4 Michigan State, 12/31

 

Alabama lead by Heisman Finalist RB Derrick Henry rushed for 189 yards and 1 TD in the SEC championship against Florida. It was a close game through the 1st half but as the second half came Alabama would take the lead and the championship. The now face Michigan State wich should be a defense battle for a chance for the National Championship.

 

  1.       Oklahoma
  • Last matchup: 3 Oklahoma @ 11 Oklahoma State, Final 58-23
  • Next game: 4 Oklahoma vs 1 Clemson, 12/31

 

QB Baker Mayfield, RB Samaje Perine, and WR Sterling Shepard look to take on a good Clemson team and make a statement that they are for real. Even though Oklahoma didn’t play in a conference championship game they did win their conference and held on to the number 4 spot. Baker Mayfield is a great QB and should be a good game.

 

  1.   Michigan State
  • Last matchup: 5 Michigan State vs 4 Iowa, Final 16-13
  • Next game: 4 Michigan State vs 2 Alabama, 12/31

 

Michigan State played Iowa for the rights for the B1G Ten Championship and a college football playoff spot. The game was a great defensive battle with 4 turnovers total (1 Michigan State, 3 Iowa) and only 2 TDs between the teams. RB L.J Scott got a rushing TD to take the lead with only 27 seconds left in the game. Iowa had a chance to score late in the game but could not drive down the field. Michigan State now faces Alabama and a tough task on stopping RB Derrick Henry.

 

  1.   Stanford
  • Last Matchup: 7 Stanford vs 20 USC, Final 41-22
  • Next Game: 6 Stanford vs 5 Iowa, 1/1

 

Stanford played for the PAC-12 Championship But needed a loss from Alabama or Clemson to get in. But still get a nice bowl game playing in the Rose Bowl. In their last game against USC Heisman Finalist Christian McCaffrey he rushed for 207 yards and 1 TD. The game was a real close game with the score 27-22 with 12:29 minutes in the 4th quarter but Stanford took over from there.
