College Football Power Rankings

With the college football season coming to an end many teams are fighting for the top 4 spots to make it into the college football playoffs. I rank what I think are the top 10 teams in college football this week.

1.Ohio State

Last Matchup: 1 Ohio State @ Rutgers, Final: 49-7

This week : 1 Ohio State Vs Minnesota 11/7

With Ohio State coming off a bye they received some bad news. Their Starting Quarterback J.T. Barrett was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and has now been suspended for their game against Minnesota. But they have much depth on that team which makes them stay at the top of my rankings.

2.Clemson

Last Matchup: 3 Clemson @ NCST, Final 56-41

This week: 3 Clemson Vs 17 Florida State 11/7

Clemson had a real good statement win this year in week 3 of the season when they beat previously rank #6 Notre Dame and now face another tough team in FSU. But should come up with a win with their high powered offense and Heisman candidate Deshaun Watson.

3.Baylor

Last Matchup: 2 Baylor Vs Iowa State, Final 45-27

This week: 2 Baylor @ Kansas State, 11/5

Baylor has one of the best if not the best offenses in college football. But they lost their starting QB Seth Russell to a season ending neck injury and now face tough part of their schedule. But with the help of Star WR Corey Coleman and star RB Shock Lindwood  they can stay at the top.

4.LSU

Last Matchup: 4 LSU Vs WKU, Final 48-20

This week: 4 LSU @ 7 Alabama 11/7

LSU lead by their phenom RB Leonard Fournette who is no joke in the SEC. With solid play by QB Brandon Harris the Tigers have had many statement wins in the tough SEC West. Their next match is one of the bigger rivalries in the nation against #7 Alabama but for now stay at number 4.

  1. TCU

Last matchup: 5 TCU Vs WVU, Final 40-10

This week: 5 TCU @ 12 OKST, 11/7

TCU also has one of the best offenses  lead by Heisman Trophy candidate Trevone Boykin and WR Josh Doctson. They can really throw the ball around which is scary for many defenses and they are looking to get in the college football playoffs after being left out last year.  They are coming to the meat of their schedule but should stay put or move up in my rankings.

  1. Michigan State

Last matchup: 6 Michigan State Vs Indiana, Final 52-26

This week: 6 Michigan State @ NEB, 11/7

The B1G is tough and Michigan State has shown that they can hang with the best. Weather it’s a redemption win against previously rank #7 Oregon or a amazing improbable win against previously ran #12 Michigan they always seem to find a way. They have a tough matchup towards the end of the year against #1 Ohio State but for now stay at 6 in my rankings.

  1. Notre Dame

Last matchup: 9 Notre Dame @ 21 Temple, Final 24-20

This week: 8 Notre Dame @ PITT, 11/7

Notre Dame comes in at 7 in my rankings. Although they had a loss on the road against Clemson they have had many other wins to put them here. They have suffered from many injuries like starting QB Malik Zaire and starting RB Tarean Folston both season ending but there replacements Deshone Kizer and C.J. Prosise have kept them in the playoff race.

  1. Alabama

Last matchup: 7 Alabama @ TENN, Final 19-14

This week: 7 Alabama Vs 4 LSU, 11/7

Alabama had a disappointing loss against Ole Miss and that seems to hurt their rep as they keep falling but they have had convincing wins against Georgia and Texas A&M lead by Defense and RB Derrick Henry. We will see what they are really made of when they play #4 LSU.

  1. Stanford

Last matchup: 8 Stanford @ WSU, Final 30-28

This week: 9 Stanford @ Colorado, 11/7

With a surprising loss to NorthWestern to began the season the Stanford Cardinal turned their season around. With the help of senior QB Kevin Hogan and RB Christian McCaffrey they went on to win 7 straight games and look as if they are going to win the PAC-12.

  1. Florida

Last matchup: 11 Florida Vs Georgia, Final 27-3

This week: 11 Florida Vs Vanderbilt, 11/7
Florida who although has one loss is to me a top 10 team. Treon Harris who has taken over for QB Will Grier who received year suspension has done a well job keeping them in the hunt for the SEC title but that’s not all that has helped Florida. Their Defense has been great holding their opponents to only 192.4 passing yards and great play by All-American CB Vernon  Hargreaves III.
