From a young age, “8THWNDR” creator Sal Glorioso has always shown interest in clothing. In the past year however it’s become almost obsession. Within the past year underground rap has played a huge role in his life, including artists like Pouya, Fat Nick, Suicide Boys and especially Lil Peep. These artists and their overall aethstetic started to bring ideas to mind. Through this, Sal discovered brands such as FTP and people like Johnny from Ransom and Tyler Grosso of Superradical who provided the main inspiration for the brand.

After Glorioso had the idea to start a clothing brand, it was all that mattered. The summer after sophomore year was consumed by planning: thinking of a name, coming up with designs, ect.. Sal recalls, “I remember I was cutting the grass one day and I came up with it, ‘9th Wonder’. So I called a close friend of mine and told him. He asked if I was joking, apparently there is only 7 wonders of the world so 9th wonder doesn’t make sense. We decided on ‘8THWNDR’ and never looked back”.

The first design came soon after this. “I just found a font I thought was cool and used it,” Sal reflects, “I wish I would’ve done a graphic to start, that would’ve been way better”. Regardless, the shirt sold far better than expected, already selling out on the official website.

Since the original “Road Rage” tee the 8THWNDR brand has evolved greatly. Now utilizing graphics and other designers, such as fellow HHS student, Hannah Effinger. In the months to come, fans have much to be excited for. “We have new designs coming this month, three colors, it’s inspired by love, that’s all I’m gonna say,” Sal says. He also describes upcoming collabs with other brands, creating a pair of 8THWNDR shoes, and potentially a booth at the Hammonton Carnival.

When asked what Glorioso has to say to his fans, haters or anyone, he simply responds, “You know who you are, Google images is not a wave.”
