The College Visit Experience

For any seniors looking into going to college, it is essential that they visit prospective schools.

In early November, I visited Montclair State University, East Stroudsburg University, and Rutger’s New Brunswick. Both are schools that I am sending applications to.

To set up a visit you simply have to go to the college’s website and set up a date and time with them to tour. Going on a college visit allows you to feel like a student and gives you an experience that the college’s website would never be able to give you.

Visiting the campuses proved valuable.  I would not have found out that positive and negatives to the colleges that aren’t listed on paper. For example, Montclair’s freshman dorms are really small, but the view of the campus is beautiful. Or that East Stroudsburg’s food is not the best, but everything on campus is close to each other.

After the tours, I am now faced with the job of determining which positive aspects out weighed the negatives.

I am not the only senior that has visited colleges before though.

Senior Daniel Macduff has visited a wide array of schools including Penn State, Georgetown, George Washington, and UNC.

“I didn’t really like George Washington’s campus, but I really liked Georgetown’s campus,” Macduff stated.

Without visiting he would not have been able to sort through all the colleges to figure out his top choice.

Seniors, now is the perfect time to schedule a college visit.
