Mr. John Toothman has been working at Hammonton High school for what he would call “a lucky 13 years.” Known for his corky style and generous nature, he can often be seen handing out supplies to students who aren’t even enrolled in his classes.  The always-artsy and always ready-to-lend-a-helping-hand Toothman has helped celebrate and bring the arts to life for students for many years now.

The reason I became a teacher is…. because I think art can make a person’s life better, even for just 46 minutes a day. So, I wanted to give that to as many people as possible.

 In my spare time I like to… spend time with my wife and our cat.

 My favorite color is… orange.

 Do you have any tattoos, of what and why….?  No tattoos, no piercings… just a throwback mustache!

The difference between me and many other teachers is… I imagine many other teachers take their work home, grading papers, etc., but as an art teacher, it’s near-impossible for me to bring projects home to grade.

My favorite perfume/cologne is… Jo Malone Oud & Bergamot

The best piece of advice I could give a student is… put all your time & energy into finding the truth about who you are; everything else will follow naturally from there.

If I won a million dollars I would… donate a lot of it to those in need, but also put some if it away for a rainy day.

My dream is to… retire early because there’s so much to see and experience in the world, and the one thing I can’t buy with a million dollars is more time.

If I were an animal I would be a… an owl, maybe because… they live it up at night, sleep during the day, fly anywhere they want to go, and all of this makes them very wise!
