Prisoners Keeps Viewers on The Edge of Their Seats

After recently seeing the movie Prisoners, I could easily say that I would see it over and over again. This is a suspenseful, action-packed story of two fathers going against all odds to find their young daughters.

Prisoners is directed by DenisVillenueve and stars many well- known actors. Hugh Jackman plays Keller Dover, and Jake Gyllenhaal plays detective Loki. In a small town in Pennsylvania, two families are very close and spend a lot of time together. The daughters of each family are best friends. While spending the Christmas together, the daughters decide to play outside after dinner.  After a few hours pass, family members begin to notice that the girls have not returned from playing. This sparks the mysterious and hard journey of two fathers who will do absolutely anything to find their daughters and bring them home ALIVE.

The performance that stood out the most was Hugh Jackman who plays Keller Dover and is the one dad who loses his little girl. He shows a character who will do absolutely anything to save his daughter such as kidnapping a man who they “thought” abducted their daughters. Jake Gyllenhaal is a very key character in the story, acting as the detective who’s only goal is to save those little girls and bring them home alive. Terrence Howard plays Franklin Birch, the other dad who’s daughter is kidnapped. Howard plays the calming and rational role  and always thinks before he reacts to situations.Paul Dano, who plays as Alex Jones, is a creepy young man who is accused of kidnapping the two little girls. He does an excellent job of capturing the fear felt by someone who is afraid and doesn’t understand what is going on.

In my opinion, this movie is an absolute must to see. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I never knew what was going to happen next. There were twist and turns at any given moment in the movie that threw viewers off completely. The only thing that could be a downfall of the movie would be the time length; it could have been a little shorter.

When watching this movie it presented a clear message or theme: family is the most important thing in the world and keeping each other safe is key. Also, that you cannot trust people you don’t know.

When recommending this movie, I would suggest this type of movie to people who enjoy mystery and suspense along with some violence. I do not recommend this movie to children under the age of 13 or anyone that does not like to be scared.

I would give this movie 8 out of 10 Devils.
