Week+12+College+Football+Power+Rankings

 

This week we saw many playoff contending teams fall out of the top 10. The season is coming down to the end so here are my top 10 teams.

  1. Clemson
  • Last matchup: 1 Clemson @ Syracuse, Final 37-27
  • This week: 1 Clemson vs Wake forest, 11/21

Clemson coming off a close game against bad Syracuse team are still a number one team. Deshaun Watson had a nice day throwing for 360 yds and 2 tds and running for 105 yards and 1 td. Clemson faces another week opponent in Wake Forest and should come up with another win unless a major upset happens.

  1. Ohio State
  • Last matchup: 3 Ohio state @ Illinois, Final 28-3
  • This week: 3 Ohio State vs 9 Michigan State, 11/21

Ohio State after facing a poor Illinois team comes in at 2. J.T. Barrett after missing their last game against minnesota started this week but had a poor game throwin only 150 yds 1 td and 1 int. But they were lead by their heisman candidate RB Ezekiel Elliott rushing for 181 yards and 2 tds. Ohio State is deep depth wise but now face the end of their schedule playing two top 15 teams.

  1. Alabama
  • Last matchup: 2 Alabama @ 17 Mississippi State, Final 31-6
  • This week: 2 Alabama vs Charleston Southern, 11/21

Alabama has come off another big win against previously rank 17 Mississippi State. They went on the road in a hostile environment against a tough SEC opponent. Derrick Henry had 204 yards rushing and 2 rushing touchdowns is now in the top of the heisman polls. Alabama faces a cupcake team Charleston Southern then play a huge Rival Auburn.   

  1. Notre Dame    
  • Last matchup: 4 Notre Dame vs Wake Forest, Final 28-7
  • This week: 4 Notre Dame vs Boston College, 11/21

 Notre Dame seams to get stronger and stronger as the year goes on. Deshone Kizer had a okay game only throwing for 111 yards but Freshman RB Josh Adams  rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown. Next up on the schedule is a soft opponent in Boston college but will wrap up the year against a tough Stanford team.

  1. Oklahoma State
  • Last matchup: 8 Oklahoma State @ Iowa State, Final 35-31
  • This week: 6 Oklahoma State vs 10 Baylor, 11/21

 

  Oklahoma State almost came home with an upset loss to a bad Iowa State team but came back scoring a Touchdown with 3;06 left in the game. Mason Rudolph had a nice game throwing for 327 yards and 1TD. They now come to the end of their schedule and face 2 tough teams in 10 Baylor and 8 Oklahoma. If they win out they will win the BIG-12 and a possible playoff spot.

  1. Oklahoma   
  • Last matchup: 12 Oklahoma @ 6 Baylor, Final 44-34
  • This week: 7 Oklahoma vs 18 TCU, 11/21

  Oklahoma has turned their season around after a bad loss to rival Texas. They are now a playoff contender lead by QB Baker Mayfield RB Sameje Perine and WR Sterling Shepard and their explosive offense. They also face 2 tough opponents in 11 TCU and 4 Oklahoma State. They also can win the BIG-12 if they win out.

 

7.Iowa

  • Last matchup: 5 Iowa vs Minnesota, Final 40-35
  • This week: 5 Iowa vs Purdue, 11/21

 

   Iowa who hasn’t played any tough opponents have had quality wins against previously rank 19 Wisconsin and previously rank 20 Northwestern and they post an undefeated record to go with it. It also helps they play in the B1G-10 and they should play Ohio State in the B1G-10 championship. They play easy teams at the end of their schedule but come get a loss from them.

  1. Florida
  • Last matchup: 11 Florida @ South Carolina, Final 24-14
  • This week: 8 Florida vs FAU, 11/21

Florida who has has locked up the SEC East now face a weak team in FAU. Last game against South Carolina was closer than the score shows. South Carolina had a fourth quarter surge to bring the score to 17-14 but fell short when Florida got the ball back and RB Kelvin Taylor broke of a 53 yard run which brought them to the 1 yard line then he punched it in from there. Kelvin Taylor had 105 rushing yard and 1 TD. QB Treon Harris 256 yards passing 1 TD and 2 Int’s. the defense showed up letting them only gaining 201 total yards and 2 turnovers. After FAU, Florida faces their rival 14 Florida State.

  1. Michigan State
  • Last matchup: 13 Michigan State vs Maryland, Final 24-7
  • This week: 9 Michigan State @ 3 Ohio State, 11/21

 

After a shocking loss to Nebraska, Michigan State had a another closer than the score shows win against Maryland. With a terrible day from the offense the Michigan State defense really stepped it up forcing 5 turnovers and having one of them going for a touchdown. Connor Cook had a terrible going 6-20 for 77 yards and 1 Int. Michigan State now faces their toughest test of the year going up against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

  1. Baylor
  • Last matchup: 6 Baylor vs 12 Oklahoma, Final lost 44-34
  • This week: 10 Baylor @ 6 Oklahoma State, 11/21

 

Baylor is coming off their first loss of the year against Oklahoma. They are now but all done in the playoff picture unless things in the college football world go nuts. It was good game throughout all 4 quarters. But they lost the turnover battle when they turned the ball over 3 times and when you have a close game like that you can not win and have 3 turnovers. Next up on their schedule they face 6 Oklahoma State and look like it is going to be a great game.
