Mike Gingrich and ZIngrone’s 2015 NFL Mock Draft: 1st Round

Mike+Gingrich+and+ZIngrones+2015+NFL+Mock+Draft%3A+1st+Round

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Jameis Winston QB Florida State

The Bucs are in need of a franchise quarterback after Mike Glennon and Josh McCown can’t offer that. Jameis is the best fit in this offense and is a pocket passer which is what Lovie Smith and the Bucs want. Marcus Mariota would not fit this offense as good as Winston would.

2. Tennessee Titans- Leonard Williams DE/DT USC

The Titans have a strong defensive line starting with Jurrell Casey but, another lineman with Williams talent could make that defense much better with his skills in the passing and running game. Titans have showed love towards Zach Mettenberger, the 6th round pick last year showed some potential towards the end of the season and they would like to stick with him for the ongoing future. They need defensive upgrades before offensive.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars- Randy Gregory OLB/DE Nebraska

The Jaguars need upgrades on both sides of the ball but, they need an explosive pass rusher and thats what they get with Gregory. He is compared to elite pass rushers like Von Miller and the Jaguars need that very badly. His extreme athleticism will help that improving defense.

4. Oakland Raiders- Amari Cooper WR Alabama

Amari Cooper was hyped up all season and lived up to the expectations scouts had for him.  The Raiders badly need weapons for second year quarterback Derek Carr who had a solid rookie campaign. With an explosive offensive weapon the team could put more points on the board this year and take less pressure off the defense. They don’t go the next best defensive player (Safety Landon Collins) because they’re offense was dead last in the league and they have to great safeties in Branch and Woodson.

5. Washington Redskins-Landon Collins S Alabama

With Brian Orakpo possibly leaving due to free agency its still not a huge need after taking Trent Murphy last year with the 2nd pick of the 2nd round. Outside Linebacker still isn’t as big of a need for that awful secondary. Taking Landon Collins would be an immediate upgrade for the Skins.

6. New York Jets- Marcus Mariota QB Oregon

We have Mariota falling down simply because he doesn’t fit most offenses and the Jets need a playmaker to spark the offense. Geno Smith is simply just not the answer for the Jets and they are in good hands with Marty Mornhinweg at Offensive Coordinator. There is still a possibility the Eagles are able to trade up and get Mariota.

7. Chicago Bears- Shane Ray DE Missouri

The Bears rush defense was 17th in the league last year and have aging players like Briggs that will be leaving soon. Shane Ray would definitely help in the rush defense and pass defense, since he is an above average pass rusher. If the Redskins pass on Landon Collin though you could see Collins go here as they Bears had the 30th pass defense in the league.

8. Atlanta Falcons-Brandon Scherff OG/OT Iowa

The Falcons have the weapons on the offensive side undoubtably but, they need to be able to block for Matt Ryan. The only way the Falcons improve is if they get a better offensive line. They need a safety very badly but unfortunately there is no good enough safety to be able to justifiably take in this spot. Another offensive lineman would improve that 8th ranked offense even more in a weak NFC South.

9. New York Giants-  Dante Fowler OLB/DE

The Giants have  good secondary but have substantial needs in the front 7. Fowler fills that hole and is quick off the edge and is very athletic which is what the Giants could use to compete in the NFC East. After getting possibly the best player in the draft last year being Odell Beckham Jr, the giants could really use another great pick in the first round.

10. St. Louis Rams- Andrus Peat OT Stanford

The whole offensive line for the rams is in limbo with one hitting free agency and injury problems,  the rams need another offensive linemen to go along with 2nd overall pick last year Greg Robinson

11. Minnesota Vikings-Devante Parker  WR Louisville

The Vikings are in desperate need of offensive weapons for QB Teddy Bridgewater. His number one option last year was Charles Johnson and he was a practice squad receiver for the Packers last year. Devante also played with Teddy in Louisville so there is already chemisry between the two.

12. Cleveland Browns- Danny Shelton NT Washington

The browns number 1 option will surly be Dante Fowler and they could maybe trade up for him especially with there surplus of picks, but if they don’t they need to fill huge holes on that defensive line and Danny Shelton is a strong Vince Wilfork like Nose Tackle that could start right away to plug the middle for that up and coming Browns team

13. New Orleans Saints- Alvin Dupree OLB/DE Kentucky

The Saints were probably the biggest disappointment of the year. They hand a stellar defense in 2013, and the defense this year took a HUGE step backwards. Adding a young fast and strong pass rusher that would help in the run too should be a no-brainer. This draft is stacked with front 7 players and the Saints need to start drafting them. At this point in the draft there isn’t really good enough O-lineman to take so taking someone along the lines of Alvin Dupree or Vic Beasly should be a given.

14.  Miami Dolphins- Kevin White WR West Virginia

Kevin White is a receiver that is skyrocketing on a lot of mock drafts. His highest is 3rd the the Jaguars. He is a great fit for the Dolphins who have a great young receiver in Jarvis Landry. Mike Wallace is looking like he’s going to get cut since he isn’t a great fit there and Kevin White could fit right in.

15. San Francisco 49ers-  Erick Flowers OT Miami

The Niners are losing some big time offensive lineman this year to free agency. Flowers can be a guy that comes right in and helps the 49ers offensively and could possibly get Kaepernick running again. Everyone knows “Kap” is a such more dangerous quarterback when he is able to get out of the pocket and run.

16. Houston Texans- Todd Gurley RB Georgia

The Texans get a running back?! But i thought they had Arian Foster? Yes his will be a question many people will have but, Foster is getting up there in age and gets banged up more and more every year. A year behind Foster (quite like Carlos Hyde how he took a year behind Frank Gore in San Fran) could turn out to be the best especial after his injury he had this year. It could make Gurley a much better player in the NFL.

17. San Diego Chargers – Melvin Gordon RB Wisconsin

Yes you are seeing right two running backs taken in the first round and back to back picks. We haven’t seen a running back go in the first round in a while and now you see two this year. The Chargers could use a back since Ryan Mathews is a free agent and Brandon Oliver cooled down at the end of the season. Gordon is viewed as the next Jamaal Charles and would be a great fit.

18. Kansas City Chiefs-Dorial Green-Beckham WR Oklahoma

The Chiefs are in need of a receiver and they need one very BAD. The receiving core of the Chiefs last year didn’t even have a touchdown. That is why this pick makes the most sense for the Chiefs to go here.

19. Cleveland Browns- TJ Clemmings OT Pittsburgh

The Browns wanted to upgrade Mitchell Schwartz last year, with plans to move him inside. Here’s a potential new starter, as T.J. Clemmings’ stock is rising right now.  He will fit in perfectly with the browns offensive line.

20. Philadelphia Eagles- Trae Waynes CB Michigan State

The Eagles need a cornerback here. The only way they don’t go corner here is if they trade pro get Mariota with the 2nd pick. This is a more realistic pick for Philly since their corners are absolutely awful.

21.Cincanatti Bengals- Eli Harold DE/OLB Virginia

The Bengals pass rush was absolutely awful last season as the team missed Michael Johnson last year. They need someone to fill that spot.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers- PJ Williams CB FSU

The steelers secondary is very bad and getting old. Ike Taylor was god awful last season and is getting up there in age and so is Troy Polamalu even though he is still fantastic. PJ would be a huge help and upgrade in the Steelers secondary.

23. Detroit Lions- Eddie Goldman DT FSU

The Lions may have some D-line issues since it looks like Suh will be leaving and Nick Fairley hits free agency too. They need someone to put next to CJ Mosley and Eddie Goldman would be a perfect  fit for the Lions defense.

24 . Arizona Cardinals- Eric Kendricks ILB UCLA

The Cardinals struggled with defense when inside linebackers Karlos Dansby and Darryl Washington were gone. Dansby is getting p there in age and Kendricks could fit right in. They do need a tight end so don’t be surprised if the Cardinals do go Maxx Williams in this position.

25. Carolina Panthers- Cameron Erving OT/G/C FSU

The Panthers could not block for Cam Newton last year. When Cam has time and has the ability to get out of the pocket, he could be one of the best quarterbacks in the entire National Football League.

26. Baltimore Ravens- Ronald Darby CB FSU

The Ravens were another team that had a struggling secondary. Lardarious Webb was one of the worst corners in the game and the Ravens could really end up being one of the best defenses in the leagues with another good Corner opposite Jimmy Smith.

27. Dallas Cowboys- Markus Golden DE/OLB Missouri

The Cowboys had trouble getting to quarterbacks that offensive lines were good this year. They could not get pressure on Colt McCoy and Mark Sanchez this year. Eli Manning also had all the time in the world to get the ball to Odell Beckham JR when they played the Giants this year too.

28. Denver Broncos La’el Collins OT/G  LSU

The offensive line was part of the reason the Denver Broncos didn’t make it deep into the playoffs this year. It just collapsed on Peyton Manning and Collins would be a huge upgrade.

29. Indianapolis Colts-Arik Armstead, DE/DT Oregon

Amrstead had a great college playoff run with the Ducks and was a great pass rusher in college and the Colts need someone like that to get to the QB. Corey Redding is leaving and they need a pass rusher.

30- Green Bay Packers- Denzel Perryman LB Miami

There was outrage from Packer fans when they didn’t take a linebacker in the first round last year. The position will have to be addressed, as Clay Matthews playing there is just a temporary solution.

31- Seattle Seahawks- Sammie Coates WR Auburn

The Seahawks need receivers and more weapons for Russell Wilson and they will have to address that this year by taking a receiver 9n the first round.

32- New England Patriots- Devin Smith WR Ohio State

The Patriots have been unstoppable on offense for the most part, but they still need to find some help for Tom Brady in the receiving aspect. Relying on Brandon LaFell doesn’t sound like a good idea for the Patriots.
