All around the wide world of sports, we see time and time again of the use of PED’s or performance enhancing drugs. With the major leagues cracking down on those most common method of muscle enhancement, being anabolic steroids, players are coming up with new ways to get big fast. Most believe that athletes using these drugs are ruining the game and most importantly being a bad influence on our youth.

The first thing that comes to mind when many sports fans hear about PED’s or steroids is the WWE.

With no “athlete” performing under 200 pounds of pure muscle, FBI raids on steroid shipments to specific WWE superstars such as Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton serves as proof to the use of steroids in the WWE. Almost all other major league sports programs place the blame on the WWE for not “putting its foot down” on their superstars using these drugs.

Some attribute the WWE for spreading the use of PED’s to other professional sports. The most recent development is the Alex Rodriguez scandal. Alex claiming all these years that he did not use PED’s, now the light being shed on him and the truth coming out by those who injected him themselves.

“Steroids are ruining the game I grew up watching,” said senior Ryan Forry.

Senior Mark Giberson disapproves of the use of PED’s, saying, “Anyone who uses PED’s is a cheater and should be kicked out of the league.”

Performance enhancing drugs will most likely be in the world of professional sports whether it is athletes using the common anabolic steroid, or finding different uncommon ways to enhance their skills.  Some reports even allege that  Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis may have used being Deer Antler spray to speed up the recovery of a torn muscle last year.

In my opinion, the biggest problem that the PED’s serve to be is the bad influence on young athletes. These major league superstars are children’s most looked up to role models next to super hero’s. Kids nowadays are more impressionable than ever and who’s to say that if they see their ”hero” using PED’s, that they won’t.
