HHS reacts to presidential election

Just a few weeks ago America was in a battle for the presidency with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. With the end of the election and Trump winning, students share their thoughts on the presidential election outcome.

“I was expecting a Hillary victory due to the news’ polls,” said senior JJ Golick. “After Trump’s election though I was overjoyed with his win and couldn’t stop chanting quotes.”

Even though he was happy about the election he still has some concerns about radical Anti-Trump activists trying to assassinate the new President-Elect.

Although Trump’s win was happy days for some, a senior, who wished to remain anonymous, had some disappointment and serious concerns for family members after the election.

“My mother immigrated from Mexico years ago and gained citizenship after some time,” this person noted. “I am fearful that Trump will attempt to deport her leaving me with the choice of following her or staying in the country.”

There are still some people who are hesitant to call Trump their president due to the gap in the Electoral and Popular vote. With Trump winning with 308 Electoral votes against Clinton’s 232, but Clinton won the Popular vote with 62.5 million to Trump’s 61.2 million.

With the presidential election behind us, we look towards the future either with hope or with caution.
