With the presidential election of 2016 approaching, many seniors and juniors will vote for the president for the first time. What are the features that attract the young minds of our country, and makes them feel that they’re being properly represented? How should a candidate act so to earn the trust of those who are most young, inexperienced and probably with less knowledge of politics?

The electoral campaign is the most important moment for a new candidate, and often times the way somebody will act is greatly reflective of how the future will be. This makes many heavily judge what they see during a campaign, so to better judge the character of their ideal president.

“I would find sympathy on someone who doesn’t focus his campaign on mostly bashing the opponents.” said junior Isabella Massey, “I would give more respect to someone that will spend his campaign on proving the importance of his goals and his view of the country.”

“I would really appreciate somebody who can tell the people what’s wrong,” said junior McKenna Forry, “and after showing us what’s wrong, he’ll work to make the country better.”

The character of a man can often help foresee what kind of decisions will be made for the country, and this is what often appeals many electors when choosing a candidate.

“I want somebody that can be brave to not listen to criticism, and only care about the future of the country.” said senior Johnathan Riad, “There the need for a man that can care more of long term issues, rather than caring on the immediate happiness of the people.”

“I’d vote for somebody that’s a great family man figure.” said junior Ross Restuccio, “A family man will take good care of the country, as he’s good at taking care of his family.”

An important element will be the manner how issues will be resolved, and the trustworthiness on being the right man to solve a problem.

“I don’t car too much if he’ll lie to us, every politician lies.” said senior Emily Hood, “What I really care is that the president will able to maintain the promises he makes to the people and the country.”

“I’m interested in a president that will keep us out of war and other international conflicts,” said junior Mark Bennett, “I’m interested in seeing a president that will prioritize our domestic issues, rather than trying to take care of the rest of the world.”

Many and different are the interest of teenagers, especially when it comes to politics. Many are ready to express their opinion and want to have their voice heard. Others, still unsure, seek for a politician that will prove to be trustworthy, and put faith in a man that will hopefully not lose its young electors’ trust.
