As winter approaches and brings snow and Christmas with it, students and staff members at Hammonton High School have been asked to tell what’s their relationship with the cold season.

“I don’t really like being cold,” said junior Isabella Massey, however, later she added “I enjoy winter because the snow looks lovely and I like big sweaters.”

Cold is not something that some people love too much, especially when somebody’s raised in a much warmer country.

“I’m from Puerto Rico and I never got used to the cold weather,” said staff member Magaly Acevedo. “winter is probably my least favorite season.”

Anyway, winter vacations offer a lot of time to spend with family and friends.

Senior Johnathat Riad said that “I enjoy winter because I have more time to spend with my friends.”

“Winter doesn’t offer a great variety of things to do,” said teacher Elizabeth Adair.  “however, it’s the best time of the year to spend time with family because of all the time available.”

Even if snow restricts the number of activities possible, the cold season permits sports as snowboarding and skiing. Some look forward for the opportunity to enjoy the snowy slopes for the whole year.

“I like to go snowboarding during the winter.” said junior Daniel Vega.

Snow is a great attraction, but not everybody enjoys playing in it.

“I rather stay inside and look at the snow instead of staying in it,” said senior Courtney Mateo. “cold makes my hand freeze and I need to wear layers to keep myself warm.”

For Michaela Salvo, the winter is better than summer.

“I think that summer is too hot,” said senior Michaela Salvo. “Cold weather is nice, and I also love to go skiing.”

As winter quickly approaches, people better get ready for the coldest winter since 1996.
