Peculiar pets

Look out dog and cat people!  There are some new pets taking over Hammonton High School.  Many students in our school have decided to be non-traditional when it comes to their pet preference.  There are many different pets that are owned by Hammonton High students; from strange birds, to amphibians, to unusual mammals such as Chinchillas.

“They are cool and different.” senior Alexis Bradley replied.

Not only does she own a pet parrot but she also owns a chinchilla.  Students like Bradley enjoy the rarity of their animals.

“They are great conversation starters,” said senior Reece Petetti. “Not a lot of people can say they own a pet snake or lizards.”

When people hear the word ‘pet’ their first thought is a cat or a dog.  But these students are excited to say they are not like the rest of the student body.

“I like being different,” said junior Ross Restuccio.

Some people might think they are too expensive or farmer to care for.  But when it comes to snakes, all that is required is a clean cage and a few mice.  Rare pets are not as expensive or high maintenance as one would think.  That is what makes these pets good for students and children.

More students at Hammonton High School should think about getting rare and unusual pets.  They are a great investment and something interesting to talk about with your friends.  Not to mention  their easy care and inexpensive conditions.
